Smart Account customers can qualify for Airtime & Fuel Rewards.
It is a Rewards Programme that allows Smart Account customers to get up to 15% back on Prepaid Airtime purchased through FNB electronic channels or up to 15% back on their Fuel spend (customer must use their Personalised Cheque Card to pay for Fuel at Point of Sale). The Reward is paid to customers in the form of Free Prepaid Airtime once a month, and is accessible via FNB Cellphone Banking (accessed by dialing *130*321#).
There is no cost to you, however you are required to meet a number of qualification and earn criteria.
If you meet the qualification criteria, your behaviour and product holding will determine your Earn Rate for the month. Your Earn Rate will be applied to the maximum of your qualifying Prepaid Airtime or qualifying Fuel spend for the month, to determine your Reward (so your Earn Rate will be applied to the higher of your qualifying Airtime spend or qualifying Fuel spend for the month, not both).

Rewards are calculated at the end of every month, based on your Prepaid Airtime spend and Fuel spend during the month, your banking behaviour during the month and Product Holding during the month.
No, you can only earn Airtime or Fuel Rewards. Each month we determine which spend category has the highest qualifying spend and then reward you on your highest qualifying spend. So for example, if your Qualifying spend is higher on Airtime than Fuel, then you will be rewarded on your qualifying Airtime spend.
No, you will be rewarded on the same 'Earn Rate' % for Airtime and Fuel Rewards. So if your Earn Rate is 5%, you will get 5% back on your qualifying Airtime spend or qualifying Fuel spend (i.e. whichever is higher).
Customers will be able to redeem their Free Airtime (the Reward) by approximately the 8th of every month via the Cellphone Banking menu options (Dial *130*321#).
Your Free Airtime will expire before the 8th day of the following month.
You can purchase Prepaid Airtime through FNB Cellphone Banking, FNB Online Banking, FNB ATMs and the FNB Banking App.
No, only airtime purchased using your Smart Account through FNB electronic channels will qualify for Airtime Rewards
You can earn Fuel Rewards when you purchase fuel at any fuel retailer using your Personalised Cheque Card. FNB cannot be held responsible should a fuel retailer refuse to accept your Personalised Cheque Card for payment, and if, for whatever reason, the fuel retailer does not accept the abovementioned card, you will not earn any Fuel Rewards for that transaction. You will also not earn any Fuel Rewards for the transaction if FNB cannot identify a qualifying transaction, at the time the transaction is processed by the fuel retailer, due to the fuel retailer not processing the transaction as a fuel transaction correctly (this means FNB cannot identify the transaction as a fuel transaction and we therefore cannot reward Fuel Rewards for this transaction, irrespective of whether the FNB customer can establish after the fact that it was indeed a fuel transaction.)
inContact is FNB's free messaging service that notifies you by sms or email of transactions that have been processed through your account. This serves as a fraud prevention measure, as well as assists you in tracking your spending and account balances. To find out about registering for inContact, click here
The credits to your account can be deposited throughout the calendar month.
If you have previously chosen not to receive marketing communications on new products and services from FNB, you can change your Marketing Consent Indicator.
FNB needs to be able to communicate with you about its loyalty and product offerings, including information about the Airtime & Fuel Rewards programme.
To update your Marketing Consent, you can either:
Customers can get up to 15% back on their maximum Qualifying Airtime or Fuel spend. So customers will be rewarded on their highest qualifying Airtime or Fuel spend (not on both).
In terms of Airtime, the qualifying Airtime spend is capped at R1 000, so the Maximum Airtime Reward at 15% = R150 (i.e. 15% of R1 000). In terms of Fuel, the qualifying Fuel spend considered is capped at 20% of a customer's Total POS (Point Of Sale, i.e. instore swipe) spend. In addition the Fuel Reward is limited to R625 (so the maximum Fuel Reward is R625).
You can earn Fuel Rewards on your qualifying Fuel spend. The Qualifying Fuel spend = Fuel spend capped at 20% of your total Point of Sale (POS) spend for the month, on your Smart Account. So, if you spent a total of R2 000 on your card at POS in the month, where R1 000 of that total POS spend was on fuel (using your personalised Cheque card to pay for fuel), your qualifying Fuel spend = R400 (i.e. 20% of R2 000) for the month (not R1 000).
You can therefore maximise your qualifying fuel spend by using your card to pay for as much of your monthly expenses as possible at POS.
You must retain both slips in case you identify a discrepancy. These slips may be required as proof of the fuel purchase.
